Short Range Free-Space Optical Communications

Patented Invisible Light Communications technology for license-free, rapidly deployable, short-haul connectivity.

Backpack-Deployable Link

The eSTS Short Range FSO solution supports data rates up to 1.25 Gbps and working distances up to 500 meters. The system provides high-bandwidth, license-free transport across line-of-sight paths without trenching, extended cable routing, or RF-spectrum coordination.

Representative applications include campus interconnects, temporary events, industrial yards, disaster-recovery staging, tactical short-haul backbones, airfields, streets, rail environments, waterways, restricted areas, and hazardous areas where temporary cabling is slow, costly, unsafe, or impractical.

Mission fit: Short Range FSO is designed for last-500-meter scenarios where temporary fiber, armored Ethernet, cable installation, or short-haul RF links create cost, schedule, logistics, spectrum-management, or safety constraints.

Operational Problems Addressed

Rapid optical transport for constrained, temporary, tactical, or hard-to-wire environments.

High-Bandwidth Applications

  • Temporary network extension across restricted, hazardous, or hard-surface areas
  • Rapid setup and removal for temporary or reconfigurable operations
  • HD video, situational-awareness feeds, and sensor data
  • Voice, chat, text, and network backhaul
  • Connectivity that does not consume or coordinate RF spectrum
  • Reduced trenching, exposed cable routing, and installation burden

Low-Data-Rate ILC Applications

Patented ILC technology can also support wearable, tether-free, and snag-reducing connections between authorized personnel, vehicle intercoms, radio systems, sensors, and remote devices.

  • Wireless headset connectivity
  • Tactical messaging and voice links
  • Remote sensing and data exfiltration
  • Close-range remote-initiation applications when legally authorized and operationally controlled
